Wow, it really has been forever since I've posted an entry on this thing ... I know I say that every time, but that's just because it's always true. hehe ... I don't think quite as many people read them anymore, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong?
Anyway, I'm at work now. The job is pretty awesome, the office and the people are great .... but there doesn't seem to be as much to do as I thought ... and i'm here for NINE hours a day ... and sometimes longer :/ You know what else sucks?? I'm NOT paid by the hour!! If I was ... just think about how rich I would be by the end of the summer, hehe. Oh well, I shouldn't complain, I do at least have a job, and that is something to be happy about. I really don't mind staying over in San Mateo either ... although I do miss hanging out with you guys. But it's also nice to spend time with my family, I haven't seen them too too much in the last few years, mostly just on holidays and stuff. Right now I'm house sitting for my aunt, so I'm not really spending any time with anyone else, because I'm there all by myself. Oh well, at least I have internet access there, woo hoo! I still go to have dinner at my Grammy's house too, so that works. We get to eat all of my aunt and uncle's food from Washington (they send it down here frozen for my Grandma ... last night we had stuffed cabbage, a polish recipe ... GOOD stuff!)
On a slightly different note ... I was feeding the kitties today (at my Aunt's house ... that's really why I'm house sitting) and not two minutes after the cat ate, it barfed it all back up!! Ewww, in three different places too! Gross ... not what I want to be cleaning up right before I have my morning bowl of cereal. Just thought I would share that with you all .... you're welcome, hehe :)
Oh, I'm going to be staying here though Friday evening now ... so I won't get to come home on Thursday nights. I'm going to be babysitting my three little cousins on Fridays from 1:00-5:00. They're sooooooo cute! It's kinda sad I won't be home to spend more time with you guys on either Thursday night or earlier Friday day ... but I'll be home for Friday night. And I really need the money, so I have to do it. It won't be so bad playing with the boys, they really are adorable! :)
My stick shift driving is going better now ... This is my third day of driving on the freeway, yay :) I'm doing it, woo hoo! So far this summer, I've been able to cross off some of the things on my list of "To Do's" Yay! I've always wanted to learn how to drive a stick shift and now I have! Next on the list, is learning how to play the piano. My Grandma has one, so I would be able to practice over here. She's going to call her friend who used to teach lessons, so maybe I'll be able to take them from her. There's really so much I want to do with and during my life ... and I can't wait to get started!
Well this is pretty long, so I should get going ... it's probably too long for any of you to read it by now anyways, hehe. Hmm.... what else can I do so I'm not just sitting here doing absolutely nothing??? For old times sake, I'll think I'll window shop online (Megan Lewis would know what I mean, hehe)

Spring in Davis is great, the weather is beautiful, HOWEVER, there is one big problem ... The BUGS!!! Davis seems to be infested with these super annoying little tiny flying bugs! It's soooooo gross! There are little black ones and these weird white fluffy looking ones ... very strange, I know! Here's the problem .... when biking, about a million of them fly right into your face ... that's just icky ... and what's even ickier is the million times a day you try to flick them off of you and end up squishing them, only to be left with bug guts on your clothes!!! ewww, ewww, ewww! Today in calculus .... yes, in a lecture hall ... one bit me! It left a little mark too! At first they were just annoying, but now, they bite! I didn't know something so tiny could do that! Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you all ... I hope none of you are having the same problem on your respective campuses.

Hi Guys :)
Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this thing... so upon request, I'm updating, hehe
Lets see ... Relay for Life is this coming weekend, I'm really looking forward to it, it's finally coming together, I'm excited :) I think I'm going to freeze the night of though, because I'm freezing now! The weather's icky in Davis at the moment and we don't have heaters... brrrr!
Besides the coldness though, it has been a really good weekend! ... Friday night was particularly great (4/16/04, yay :) Muah!) Saturday was Picnic Day, the biggest day of the year here in Davis, so that was fun, there were TONS of people here, it was crazy ... ran into the Slankards, talked to Lauren for a few, so that was cool. And today, I tabled for Relay in the morning and Kelli came to visit in the afternoon. We went to eat at Pasta?, a new Italian place downtown, it was really good, yum :) After that we went over to Tercero so she could meet George, that was cool too :)
hmmm... since then I've just been trying to get some work done, and I've been pretty productive, which is always a good thing ... I have two midterms this week, both on Friday, but at least they're before Relay and not after, haha, that definitely wouldn't be too good. Well I'm off to bed soon, chem discussion at 8 am ...

Hi Guys :)
I've had a request to update so I thought that I'd do that now :)
Let's see ... hmm... I'm back in Davis now, Kelli drove me back today since it was kind of last minute that my other ride didn't work out ... Thanks again Kelli, you're such a great friend! :)
It was nice, once we got here, we had lunch at the posh bagel, and I got a turkey and avocado sandwich on a bagel, yum! (That reminds me .... I am so happy that I finally got to go to Gerard's over break, b/c it actually wasn't closed, woo hoo! Gerard's is like my favorite place to eat in Tracy ... someday I want to go to the deli that's actually in Ireland, that would be soooo cool! I love Europe and I love Gerard's so it would be perfect! hehe :))
Once I got back to the dorm I just made my bed, unpacked all my stuff and organized all of last quarter's work that I just left piled all over the place. I'm also happy to say that this time the refrigerator stayed all nice and clean over break, yay! Janice did a much better job cleaning it out this time than I did before winter break (I really had no idea that there were four ice cream bars hiding in the freezer, haha, opps!) Oh well, everything's all better now, hehe :)
So for the rest of the day I've pretty much just been hanging out, chatting online and watching tv. Janice doesn't come back until tomorrow so for now I'm just kinda bored, haha. I did get to see her yesterday though, we went shopping at stoneridge and then I got to see her new house and all of her horses, it was fun :) Her house is so nice, I love the windows in the family/living room, there is such a great view! I'm definitely going to have to go horseback riding over there sometime, that'll be really fun :)
Well that's it for now ... I think I'll actually try to get to sleep early tonight, we'll see. I'm looking forward to tomorrow since I'm missing a certain special someone :) (I'll see you tomorrow babe! MUAH! :))
It was so great to see everyone over break, too bad it was so short! I hope all of your spring quarter classes are getting off to a good start :)

Ok, so here's my story for the day ..... this afternoon at approximately 4:30 Luiza and I drove downtown to get some early dinner. downtown davis being the way it is, we drove around the blocks in circles until we finally found a parking space, that just happened to be outside of this bank, which is in the same building as a chinese restaurant, a few other little places and is also on top of a little kind of underground parking garage. so anyway, we got out of the car and began walking around the side of the building, heading in the direction of plutos (yum.. plutos is good :)) and we were not 50 feet past the corner when we heard "STOP NOW! GET DOWN!!" and turned around to see a policeman running toward the bank POINTING HIS GUN!!!!!!! As this was going on frightened pedestrians were understandably scurrying to get out of the way. Not two seconds later there were cop cars and motorcycles speeding in from all directions! It was crazy!! Luiza and I were totally shocked! Not two seconds before we were standing right outside of that bank, the cop with the gun must have watched us park the car and then get out of the way of the scene of the crime before he decided to move in on it! we're not actually sure of what the cause of this was all about, but we're assuming it was a bank robbery!!! what else could it have been? (we hadn't seen anything suspicious two seconds before) ... all in all, it was just really strange, not what you expect to see in davis (luiza never even saw anything like this growing up in san jose!) anyway, i thought i'd share this little experience with you all ... maybe i'll check the papers tomorrow to see if there is a little blurb about it.

Well I haven't updated this thing for a really long time, so now that I'm sitting here bored at the moment, I thought that it'd be a good thing to do. I pretty much spent the entire day in the library. I had to do some research and start my ten page paper that's due on Thursday. That by itself would't be too bad, but I have a chem midterm on Tuesday too. So my weekend is pretty much completely consumed with studying. I am going to take a bit of a break tho and go out to dinner with my future (next year's) roommates. I'm not sure exactly where we're going yet, but it should be fun :) I'm really excited for tomorrow ... my mom and sister are coming up to come see the place that Lea, Luiza and I are going to live next year! I haven't seen it yet either, so I've been pretty anxious all week. I'll update again tomorrow to tell you guys all about it :)
Well that's all for now, I think I should probably try to study a bit more before we go get some food. (or maybe I'll just watch a little tv :)) Talk to you all later! |

So far, it's been a good Saturday, I've had a really nice morning. I got up early at 8:30, but I still got 8 1/2 hours of sleep, yay :). Then Monika, Erin, Julia, Kate and I went to starbucks to get some breakfast and then down to the farmers market. I love the farmers market here, it's great! I've only been a few times, but they have it twice a week all year long. Today I got three apples (two gala and one fuji), two apple pears, two oranges, an avocado and half of a really good loaf of some type of french bread (I split it with Erin). Oh yeah, and I got five honey sticks for a dollar, all different flavors (sour strawberry, sour apple, pink lemonade, pina colada, and lemon). I've never had those either, but everyone seems to recommend them, so I'll let ya know what I think. So now I just feel refreshed, fruit is always good like that. I don't think I could ever live in a big city, I like living in smaller agricultural towns, and even though Davis has a limited amount of things to do, I really do like it here. Ok that's my blurb for the morning ... I think I'll eat some of my french bread with my avocado and then start some studying. Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)
p.s. oh! I bought a davis farmers market t-shirt too, a yellow one! I've wanted one for a long time, so I'm excited about that :) |

Yay! I got the topic that I really wanted for my in class essay midterm in poly sci this morning, so that went well. Actually, that was the first good thing to happen all week, wow, what a concept! I think I owe my luck this morning to my lucky jade necklace, so I'd like to say thanks Kelli! :) Well this has been a seriously seriously long week, definitely not my best ever ... at least it's almost over, but not quite yet. Well, I was starting to feel a little more hopeful until just now ... it turns out that I'm one of 113 alternates! Those odds really aren't so good, not when where I'm living and who I'm living with next year depend on them. This year they only hired 10 of the alternates, and not necessarily right away, some not even until last month. So jeeze, this leaves me pretty much hanging ... oh well, what can ya do? Something will work out, it always does .... ya never know, maybe I'll just get really lucky ... keep your fingers crossed for me
A more immediate problem ... I have two midterms tomorrow, one at 9 am that I'm only half way prepared for, yikes! So I'm going to have to squeeze poly sci in sometime between studying with people for calc. It's going to be a long night ...
Well I better get going, I'm going to go to this volunteers meeting for something I told some girls on my floor that I'd volunteer for next friday ... I'm not too sure what it is, but I guess I'll find out.

Hi Everyone :)
Well it's been consistently windy, rainy and stormy all day (at least since I woke up at 9am this morning) ... and luckily, that is just what I need. When it's so yucky outside, there's nothing better to do than study inside, so that's what I've been up to all day (I have a lot to catch up on, so it feels really good to be productive).
Another good thing is that tomorrow is Tuesday, the 17th, yay :) It's taken forever to get here, but tomorrow morning after chem I'll find out whether or not I'll be an RA next year and if I am, where I'll be placed. It's not a huge deal if I don't get it, because I have other options for places to live and who to live with, etc etc, but I'm just really anxious to find out. Wish me luck!
Ok, back to work, I'm going to get a lot done today, woohoo!

Well I should be working right now, but I can't, because I'm sad ... I just lost a 20 dollar bill :( So now some lucky person is twenty dollars richer and I'm twenty dollars poorer, that just sucks. --- I just got that money too in a valentines day card from my aunt, I always feel bad when I lose things that other people give me. I was just talking to Laura about that the other day. Oh well ... what can ya do?
So instead of reading right now, like I really should be doing, I'm updating my journal of course and watching the Emperor's New Groove (I need to get a DVD player so I can watch my DVDs and use my computer at the same time. The Emperor's New Groove is one of my only vhs movies, actually it's my sister's and she was quite mad when she found out I took it, but I honestly did think it was mine ... but I did know that lilo and stitch was hers, opps! (don't worry I have returned it)).
I guess I'll start reading in a little bit, and make myself get through at least one chapter of leviathan. It seems to be getting harder and harder to get myself to work now, jeeze, this quarter is tough.

Well, I finally decided which classes I'm going to take next quarter and at what times ... although it was not as easy as I had hoped (for various reasons :) haha). Either way, it's settled for now. Cross your fingers for me that at 6:00 am tomorrow (or shall I say this-) morning, when I register, I'll get the classes I want (knock on wood). Thanks!
Ok ... so I have to mention this .... There is a really really really stupid commercial that always comes on whenever we actually watch tv here, and I really hate it. It's for Chaser, maybe you guys have seen it too. I just think it puts out a crappy message ... basically saying it's ok to go get totally smashed the night before something, like work (where you're supposed to be responsible, prepared, organized etc), b/c you can just take a Chaser and be fine! That's so stupid!! And they mention you can get it at your friendly neighborhood stores (whichever ones they list, i don't remember, I'm certainly not planning on buying it!). So basically, it just really bothers me. (I'm done complaining now :))
Well, on a happier note, I'll be going home this weekend! Pretty much just for saturday though (I'll be there friday night, maybe around 8 and then I'm coming back to Davis Sunday morning) ... but it'll be great to see those of you who are going home too! I'm looking forward to it. I really want Gerards for lunch on Saturday (I've been craving it since we all left in September)... anybody with me!? Let me know :)
Ok, well I better get to sleep now, I have to wake up bright and early to register and then go to class (I hate to admit it, but I skipped three classes this week, but I really wasn't feeling well ... hopefully my sickness will be totally gone tomorrow :))

All and all today was just really great, the best day I’ve had in awhile (not that I’ve been having a lot of bad days, but they’ve just been really busy, a little stressful and pretty uneventful).
It all started after having gotten nine hours of sleep, which really makes a difference (I went to bed at 10 last night, which is so early, but I was really tired). I ended up being a little late to my 9 am poly sci lecture because I ran into Monika at breakfast and ended up staying longer than I should have (but that’s ok, it’s always good to catch up, even though we have our weekly dinners :)). After poly sci I walked home with my friend Christina, a little girl talk is always nice :)) When I got back Janice was still sleeping so I took a nap for a little bit too.
At noon we woke up, and to celebrate the end of a stressful week, Janice, Laura and I went to get manicures and pedicures! We got a really good deal too and it was just a lot of fun. It’s seems like it’s been awhile since I’ve actually done anything but study, so it was just good to get out. Afterward Laura and I got some lunch downtown, at the posh bagel. I had a sandwich and I bet you can guess what kind (yep, that’s right, turkey and avocado, but on a bagel! haha, it was really good).
After lunch we walked back to campus (we both had a class at three), and on the way we talked about Europe. I really can’t wait to study abroad; it’ll be the greatest thing ever! I think I’ve narrowed it down to Italy, France or Ireland. Since taking Ethnicity in American Communities, I want to learn more about where my family came from, since it’s kind of sad, but I don’t really feel like we have a culture (I didn’t even know that I am mostly Irish until about a week ago. It’s kind of weird, even though I guess it’s not a big deal and doesn’t really make a big difference. It’s just funny finding out that you’re something different than you always thought you were, even though I still do have a fairly good amount of French and Italian in me).
On my way back from class, the weather was really great, and it was just nice all together. It was one of those times when you look at everything around you and think wow, I can’t believe I’m here, and are just thankful for everything that you have. At times like these everything you’ve ever complained about in life just seems really insignificant. It was just a happy, refreshing walk back from class; it’s amazing what a little sunshine can do :).
An hour later, at 5:00, I had calculus, last class of the day, and that walk back was nice too, just as always :). Then I went to dinner, to rite aid, to blockbuster and then to watch a movie with Janice, her boyfriend Chris and Laura. After the movie I heard about something really really exciting that I might get to do … I really really really hope it works out!! When I find out more, I’ll tell you all about it … but until then you must all wait in suspense, haha :).
Well that’s all for now, I know it’s a lot, but I had a pretty good day, and since I just started this whole live journal thing, I figured I’d tell you all about it.
I better get going to bed, even though I don’t know if I’ll be going to Relay University tomorrow now. I guess if you see me online early in the day, it means that I didn’t go.

Hi Guys :)
Wow, I'm so tired! It's been such a long week, but it's finally over! :) (Well I do have three classes tomorrow but no midterms, woo hoo!) I think I did pretty bad on my midterm today tho, guess that's what I get for waiting until this morning to study for it ... but that only happened because I've been studying for all of my other midterms and writing papers and labs for other classes for the last two weeks. Oh well, what can ya do?
Let's see ... what else did I do today? Hmm.. Well I filled out the student housing survey for a free candy bar. I got a nestle crunch with caramel, first time I've had one of those, so it was a pretty good deal. Jessica and John, you guys should fill out the survey too, if you haven't already ... besides the candy bar you'll also get a chance to win a certificate to the bookstore, how cool! :P haha
I also found two new members for my relay for life team, actually it's the girl who was wearing a relay shirt at the rec hall the other day and her roommate... We still don't have a team name or theme yet tho, so if you guys happen to think of anything cool, let me know :)
Other than that, I just ate at the DC for lunch and dinner. I was planning to go to breakfast today too (b/c I've been out of cereal and milk for the last few days) but I hit the sleep button on my alarm a few too many times this morning and by the time I actually got up there was no time for breakfast. That's probably why I didn't do so well on my midterm, when I don't get my daily dose of cereal, it's just not good, haha
Right now I'm actually watching tv, it's crazy! It doesn't happen very often, so I think I'll just enjoy it. That's all for now, talk to you later :)
